Is there an adapter to use my film lenses on my digital slr?
I believe its possible, but i really just need help finding what adapter i need.
Im using a nikon d100 right now, but my grandfather game me a plethora of film lenses, from multiple makers, like kiron, kalimar, albinar and tokina.
i love shooting digital and it would be a shame for the thousands of dollars worth of lenses that i have to sit around while im shooting digital.
any help?
Before you look for an adapter you need to determine what mount the lenses are made for. Tokina for example is a third party maker of lenses. They make lenses for Nikon, Canon, Pentax etc. If it is a Nikon mount then you don't need an adapter. The same applies to the other brands as well. Some of them are better than others.
If they are not Nikon mount you may be able to find a adapter to go from whatever mount they are to Nikon. For example Canon FD to Nikon. The problem is that even if you do find an adapter the autofocus and aperture settings may not work. You could also lose metering and optical quality. None of these lenses are that good anyway.
