would a Kar98K Mauser with POSP scope be a good deer gun?
POSP scope is 8x42 and is on www.impactguns.com look at the scope reticle and tell please me what you think
toss the scope in the garbage...keep the rifle....
the rifle is good enough for what you want, but putting a scope on a WWII era rifle usually is pointless...the scope is more accurate the the rifle is and if you practice you can shoot about as well with out the scope as well as with it...at least i can with my mausers, mosins, SMLEs...etc....
also that does depend on the mount of the scope itself, if you buy one of those aftermarket mounts, specially the non permantant ones, the scope wont mount solid to the rifle and the zero will change to much.
also an 8 power scope is not very good for dear hunting, its a good target or very long range scope. i use a 2.5X scope. it give a wider feild of vision and is easier to pick up a target with a low power scope....if anything get an adjustable scope something like 3X to maybe 6X....

Russian POSP 3-9x42 with illuminated Mil-Dot reticle?
I would get slightly better magnification with 3-9 but I was partial to the range finder style reticle.
It is being mounted to a modified Yugo mauser with a POSP style side rail.
Get substance over style......
The 3-9x42 is the better unit.....
